EDO 2020: NNPP, APP GOV. CANDIDATES MAY APPROACH ELECTION TRIBUNAL OVER THE OUTCOME

Two candidates in the just-concluded Edo State governorship election, Tracy Ebun Agol of the New Nigeria Peoples Party and Osalumese Areloegbe of the All Peoples Party, may challenge the outcome of the poll.

They said they were already consulting their political parties before deciding whether or not to approach the Election Petition Tribunal.

Agol said, “We have to consult with the national body before we take any decision concerning the Edo election.

“We are also looking at all that took place during the election after which we will make our findings public and decide the next step to take.”

When asked if she considered the election free and fair, she replied, “It will be revealed as soon as we meet with the national body.”

On his part, Areloegbe said, “I would have to hold a meeting with the party before knowing whether we will go to the tribunal or not.

“People were induced with money. Some of my votes were also nullified while some were not counted.”

Meanwhile, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Felix Obayagbon, who is also the chairman of his party, said, “As far as I am also concerned, the election was free, fair and credible. If elections will continue like this in Nigeria, it means that we are moving forward in our democracy.”

Candidate of the Labour Party, Isiah Osifo, said, “We are not going to the tribunal for any redress.

“Anyone that is saying that the election was not free and fair is not patriotic.”
