RIVERS STATE LOCAL GOVT. POLL: PDP COASTS 23 COUNCIL SEATS AND 319 COUNCILLORSHIP POSITIONS.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has cleared all elective positions in the April 17, 2021 local government polls in the 23 local government areas of Rivers State.

The results announced by the Chairman, Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Sir. Hon. George Omereji showed that 16 political parties participated in the poll and the ruling party in the state, PDP, swept all the 23 seats for council chairmanship and 319 slots for councillorship.

According to the announcement, the People’s Democratic Party won the entire Chairmanship/Councillorship seats with the following results in: Etche (27,895), Gokana-Khana (4574), Emohua (33,908), Ikwerre (4,982), Abua-Odual (2,744), Ahoada East (35,493), Ahoada West (22,131), Akuku- Toru (54,853), Khana (53,439), Andoni (107,658), Asari-Toru (63,727), Obio-Akpor (287,347), Bonny(18,404), Ogu-Bolo (34,781), Degema (21,462), Eleme (36,096), Okrika (23,890), Omuma (31,960), Ogba-Egbema -Ndoni (52,484), Opobo-Nkoro (44,474), Oyigbo (81,052), Port-Harcourt (177,047) and Tai (53,453).

Speaking after the announcement of 23 local councils and 319 councillorship results, Hon. Omereji thanked the stakeholders and the good people of Rivers State for the good conduct exhibited before, during and after the elections.

“In case you need further information, you can meet the Commissioners of the respective local government areas for clarity of results as announced by this commission”

“We thank you all and appreciate your cooperation for the success of this election resulted in free, fair and credible election in Rivers State”.

“We thank the security agencies in ensuring peaceful atmosphere before, during and after this council poll”.

“We enjoin all our people in the state to maintain peaceful atmosphere with those newly elected council Chairmen and Councillors in order to deliver dividends of democracy as soon as they commence their tenure” he said.
